A motivator is epic-derived technology that consists of a living tissue sample culture that is kept alive inside of the device. When the correct voltage is applied, the host epic's power can be used with the right equipment. If the tissue sample is from a still living epic, is causes severe pain and is easily found by the host epic. Some examples of motivators are the one used with the Gauss Gun, Spyril, and the suit made to provide Prof's full epic power set. The mobiles are an exception to rule about needing a motivator. Knighthawk keeps a few mobiles with motivators and the others work without.
